The pandemic has turned the world upside down and severely affected the global endurance industry. Thousands of events have been cancelled, postponed or turned into virtual challenges. Keeping track of all changes is a massive task. During the first five months of the pandemic, 7,300 events have been updated each month on average.

We noted a high rise in questions from participants and decided to put in an extra gear to keep our global event directory up-to-date. In many cases, we give more accurate information than what you find on the organizer’s own websites” says Jean-Loup Fenaux, the ultramarathoner and founder of Ahotu Marathons, the world’s largest marathon calendar, listing over 70,000 endurance races in 205 countries.

Another benefit of the tracker is that it helps organizers better plan their events for 2021. Organizers can follow peer events and also identify future popular race dates.

“As the industry is very dependent on a successful 2021, it would be a shame that popular events in the same region would be scheduled on the same day”, Jean-Loup continues.

Ahotu Marathons is part of Swedish “World’s Sports Group”, founded in 2016. WSG offers a range of digital services for the endurance sports industry, including the marketplace  Worldsmarathons.com where runners discover and sign up for their next challenge.
